Case study: PurifAI Atlas - The Complete Platform for Modern Diagnostic Workflows
Amped PCR is developing PurifAI Atlas®, an integrated, AI-driven data platform designed to deliver real-time diagnostics, analytics and predictive insights for food safety. The platform supports faster responses to contamination risks, enhances regulatory compliance and improves transparency across food supply chains, helping to reduce the public health and economic impacts of foodborne illness.
The platform enables food producers and public health bodies to detect contamination risks more rapidly and respond more eff ectively. Supported by Innovate UK, the company is advancing its rapid detection capabilities through a smart, AI-driven system designed to improve decision-making across food supply chains.
Foodborne illness remains a significant global challenge, affecting hundreds of millions of people each year and placing major economic strain on the food industry through recalls, lost product and reputational damage. Traditional testing methods can take several days to deliver results, limiting the ability of producers and regulators to intervene quickly and prevent outbreaks.
Amped PCR's PurifAI system addresses this gap through a proprietary approach to rapid detection and analysis at critical points in the food supply chain, reducing both the time and cost associated with conventional laboratory testing.
Platform overview:
- PurifAI Atlas organises the diagnostic workflow into three core modules:
- LIMS - End-to-end workflow management, ensuring full traceability, audit readiness and operational oversight across laboratory processes.
- Analytics - Advanced data processing and interpretation, supporting identification, classification and risk assessment of detected signals.
- Public Data Integration - Integration with external data sources, providing real-time context on emerging risks and broader system trends.
"Traditional diagnostic workflows often stop at a positive or negative result," said Ben Davis, Founder of Amped PCR. "PurifAI Atlas connects complex data streams to actionable insight, giving users the full picture needed to make informed decisions quickly."
Key features of the platform include detection workflows, environmental monitoring, performance analytics and geospatial mapping of risk trends. The integration of predictive modelling and external data strengthens the system's ability to support proactive management, helping stakeholders identify patterns and intervene before issues escalate.
The platform is designed to scale across food production, public health and environmental monitoring settings.
Through this Innovate UK-supported project, Amped PCR Ltd is positioning itself as a leader in precision diagnostics, demonstrating how data-driven innovation can deliver safer food systems, improved operational effi ciency and greater confi dence for producers and consumers alike.
Amped PCR is preparing the next stage of platform development, with two provisional patent applications protecting key innovations developed during the project.
By combining service-based delivery, cloud accessibility and structured integration with public health networks, PurifAI Atlas addresses critical gaps in speed, transparency and actionable intelligence for modern food safety systems.
